Grill and griddle in one
- Sear over the fire: a wood or charcoal fire burns in the center under a removable grill grate for steaks, chops and burgers.
- Griddle around it: a flat steel cooktop with 700+ sq in of cooking surface cooks the sides at the same time, from vegetables to garlic bread, with nothing falling through the grates.
- Heat zones: hottest next to the fire and cooler toward the rim, so you can sear, cook and keep food warm at the same time.
- No flare-ups on the cooktop: the steel sits between the fire and the food, so grease cannot drip into the flames.
- Quicker warm-up than the 40": the 3/8" cooktop is thinner than the ½" plate on the 40" grills, so it heats up faster.
- Fire bowl after dinner: lift off the cooktop and gather around the fire.
Design and materials
The body is 10-gauge CORTEN (weathering) steel, about 3.4 mm thick, which forms a protective rust-colored patina and needs no paint. The cooktop is a separate 3/8" plate of hot-rolled steel, not CORTEN.

Care
Season the cooktop like cast iron with the included seasoning puck. After cooking, scrape it clean while warm and wipe on a light coat of oil to build a natural, low-stick patina.
